Troubleshooting

Work out why a trade didn't happen, or didn't happen the way you expected, step by step.

A trade didn't happen

Work through these in order:

  1. Did the alert fire? In TradingView, check the Alert log, not the chart or Strategy Tester. If it isn't in the log, the alert never fired: check the alert's condition and that it hasn't expired.
  2. Did EZPZ Trader receive it? Open the strategy's Signals. If the signal isn't listed, check the webhook URL in the alert. It must be the strategy's current URL, copied in full.
  3. Was it refused? A signal marked invalid shows its error code. See Webhook Responses.
  4. Was it skipped on your account? Open the signal and look at your subscription's result and reason. See Why a Trade Was Skipped.
  5. Is it waiting? Queued means it's waiting for the market to open. Pending approval means Auto Submit is off and it's on the Approvals page.
  6. Did the broker reject it? The broker's own message is shown. Check buying power, the symbol, and the account type with your broker.
From a strategy's Signals to a signal's page: the orders, the timeline, and a skipped one with its reason.

Common mistakes

Symptom Likely cause
malformed-json A trailing comma, curly quotes (“ ”) instead of straight quotes ("), or a {{placeholder}} left inside numbers without quotes.
invalid-password The webhook URL was rotated, or copied incompletely.
Every signal skipped "outside trading window" The trading window timezone is blank (UTC) or wrong.
Only limit orders are sent The subscription's Entry/Exit order type is Limit, the default. Change it to Market.
Sell closes the long but doesn't go short Allow side swapping is off (the default).
Second buy skipped "already holds this side" Allow add to position is off.
Exit rejected by the broker An open take profit / stop loss holds the shares. Turn on cancelling open orders, or send "cancel": true.
Quantity differs from the signal Allow signal override is off for Position Size, or a multiplier is set.
Futures order for the wrong contract A continuous symbol (NQ1!) was sent. Send the contract, e.g. NQZ2026.

Trades on the chart that never alerted

If the chart shows trades that never appeared in the Alert log, the script likely repaints: it changes signals on bars that have already closed. Fix the script so live alerts match the backtest.

Positions you didn't expect

  • Two alerts at the same moment (an exit and an entry) can run against a position that hasn't filled yet. Leave a few seconds between them, or send one reversing order.
  • Manual trades in the same account change the position EZPZ Trader reads.
  • Take profit / stop loss may have closed the position at the broker before your exit signal arrived.

Still stuck?

Contact support with the signal's link and a screenshot of your alert's message. Never send your full webhook URL: it's a password.
