Rate Limits & Retries

How many signals a webhook accepts, how broker limits are handled, and when a failed step is tried again.

On this page

Webhook limits

Each strategy's webhook accepts up to:

Window Requests
1 minute 60
1 hour 500

Requests over the limit get 429 too-many-requests and aren't traded. EZPZ Trader isn't built for high-frequency trading: don't run alerts on charts faster than 1 minute.

Duplicate signals

An identical alert body sent to the same strategy within 5 seconds is saved as a duplicate and not traded again. Alert senders sometimes deliver the same alert twice, and this stops it from trading twice.

Broker rate limits

Every broker limits how many requests an account can make. EZPZ Trader paces its calls to each broker account to stay under those limits. If a broker still answers "too many requests" when an order is sent, the order is treated as not placed and is never sent again automatically, so it can't be doubled.

Retries

When EZPZ Trader plans a trade, it reads your position, open orders, quotes and balance from the broker. If one of those reads fails with a temporary error, Allow retries in the subscription tries the planning again:

Setting Default What it does
Allow retries Off Turn retries on.
Max retries 5 How many times to try again.
Delay 1,000 ms Wait before the first retry.
Delay multiplier 2 Each wait is this many times the last: 1 s, 2 s, 4 s…
Max delay 10,000 ms The longest wait between retries.
Retry section
The subscription's Retry section.

Orders are never retried

Placing an order is never retried. If the broker fails while an order is being sent, it may have been placed anyway, so sending it again could double your position. The trade is marked failed on the signal's page (and emailed, if notifications are on).

Signal age

Reject entry / exit if signal is older than skips an order when the signal is older than that many seconds when it runs. The age counts from the signal's time field when it sends one, so a delivery that arrives late isn't treated as fresh. Otherwise it counts from when we received it.

When the order queue is down

If the webhook can't hand a signal to the order queue, it answers 503 queue-unavailable and nothing is traded. Send it again. EZPZ Trader doesn't resend failed signals itself, because a resend could arrive alongside yours and trade twice.
