Calls and puts trade directionally — buy to open, sell to open, or exit — with strikes chosen either explicitly or by scanning the chain for an expiration, moneyness, and distance from the money.
Worth knowing
Directional only — no multi-leg spreads, and just one open position per underlying per broker account at a time. A strategy that needs simultaneous legs has to split them across separate broker accounts.
